It is not unusual to experience anxiety but if this happens for too long or far too frequently it can get in the way of many things such as connection with others, impacting the confidence needed to handle challenges well or to cultivate relationships and plans so that things truly flourish. Sadly, anxiety is very common and can lead to depression and addictive behaviours that truly get in the way of fulfilment.
Having lots of anxiety not only disrupts many of the body's systems such as the immune and digestive systems, but it can also have very damaging impacts on the brain. It affects thinking, emotional responsiveness, sleep patterns and memory. We also know much more about the impact of prolonged stress and anxiety on genes and its association with life threatening illnesses. Finding a way to cope with, reduce or ward off anxiety in a safe way is a valuable tool.
This 8 week program of Kundalini Yoga for Anxiety will introduce you to kundalini yoga and meditation practices specific to anxiety. Whist kundalini yoga is an ancient yogic practice , we are also becoming increasingly informed by neuroscience as to its benefits for mental health and is why I refer to kundalini yoga and meditation as 'sacred therapy' .
The program will explore what neuroscience and the health sciences are finding out about yoga and meditation as practices in aid of mental health so that they can be used in every day life.
This 8 week program will also give you consistent practice in a safe and supportive environment to reap the benefits of kundalini yoga and meditation for good mental health. It is not a replacement for any medical advice or supervision and you are advised to consult with your GP before embarking on this program or if new to yoga although the course is designed for complete strangers to yoga.
